How often should my boiler be serviced
Your boiler, and cylinder if fitted, should be service every year and in line with manufacturers guidance
How long will my boiler service take?
About an hour, if you have a back boiler then allow a little longer.
Do you service hot water cylinders and how do I know what type of cylinder I have?
Yes of course, our engineers are certified to service and maintain vented and unvented cylinders.
If your cylinder is blue, yellow, green or just plain copper with a jacket on it then its most likely a vented cylinder. If its white and has another small tank about the size of a bucket secured to the wall next to it then its most likely an unvented tank.
Our engineer with be able to advise you during his visit.
Do you service heat pumps?
Yes, absolutely. Heat pumps are a big investment, are becoming more and more common and should be service annually.
Check out our Heat Pump services page for more information

Yes absolutely. As part of our core plus service package our engineer will advise you on how you can make your system more efficient, or we can visit for the sole purpose of assessing and recommending improvements.
What is Gas Safe?
Gas Safe is the regulatory body for gas engineers and we as gas engineers and a company must be registered with them. They periodically inspect our work and engineers to make sure that the rigorous standards around gas installations and appliances are being adhered to.
I work full-time, do you offer evenings or weekends?
Yes, here at Heatmasters we understand that it can be difficult to take time off work or work from home and be available for us to attend Monday to Friday during regular working hours. Please get in touch to discuss a suitable time.
How do I know what type of boiler I have?
If you have a tank that stores the hot water and a boiler then you have either a system boiler or a heat only boiler. If you only have a boiler with no hot water tank then you have a combi boiler.
What is a combo boiler?
A combi boiler heats both the radiators and the hot water that comes out of your taps and removes the need for a hot water storage tank.
What is a system boiler?
A system boiler works in conjunction with a hot water storage tank. A system boiler heats the water for the radiators, pumps it around the radiators and to the hot water tank which in turn heats up the hot water storage tank giving you hot water.
What is a heat-only boiler?
A heat-only boiler is very similar to the system boiler but it doesn't have its own built in pump, and the pump would be fitted externally into your system
Why is one of my radiators colder than the rest?
There could be a number of reasons for this but common cause are a blockage in the system, faulty TRV (thermostatic radiator valve), sludge in the system or the system not being balanced.
